This small restaurant is mainly a takeout spot for locals, located at the intersection of Broadway and Justice Avenue, and its current name is actually Zhong Yue Restaurant. It's run by an older couple who are quite kindly people, feels like they're very much trying to make an honest living. The inside of the restaurant isn't impressive, a simple setup with a main hot food display and table for "checkout", seating is limited to a few stools on a small narrow counter at the front of the store. I was in the area and dropped by to pick up some food to go, got the following: - zhongzi $3.50 each: sticky rice with pork and savory mung bean paste wrapped in bamboo leaves. A little on the bland side though they have a large piece of meat inside, nothing a little soy sauce (or any other Asian sauce for that matter) couldn't fix. - stir-fried rice vermicelli $6 for the large box, $3 for the small one: tasty well-cooked noodles with slivers of cabbage, onion and carrot, the large box could serve 2 people easily. - choice of 3 dishes with rice, fried rice or noodles, and served with a side of clear soup (had veggies in the soup the day I went) $8: they do choice of 2 dishes with above for $7, choices of 4 options for $9. You choose from the dishes in the display counter. Homestyle, tasty and nothing fancy in the least bit, but well worth the price. Street parking is available though not plentiful in this area, no bathrooms available. Around the corner from one of the exits of the Grand Avenue subway stop.

Was feeling some classic asian food this morning (egg with pork congee and some fried dumplings) and was not disappointed. The lady who works here is so sweet, greeting me when I walked in and spoke English which is great for their business to get everyone! As others said, it's a no frills place but just enough to make you feel like you getting the real chinese food for such a low price! Im not sure if they take credit card since I paid cash but didn't see any sign saying otherwise. Definitely come here and support a small business.

Broadway Snacks has most of the things I want in a neighborhood spot: divey, no pretense, with affordable and solid food. While Chinese name (上海風味) is more akin to "Shanghai Flavor" the concept of it being a small eatery that offers simple snack like foods still rings true. Overall, this place feels like a 3 star eatery, but I like the setup so much I'm giving it a 4. As noted earlier, the place is grimy and even a little dodgy. Seating is limited; this is one of those places best for solo dining and/or takeout. One will find the display counter loaded with hot foods across the Chinese food spectrum. Go with a combo and pick a few items (mix-n-match style) for $7 or so. The service is very straight forward, but not overly warm. Cash will always rule in these parts. While it's not a destination spot, it is one that the neighborhood will always benefit from. The food is not outstanding but it works well in a pinch. Directly outside on awning, items such as fried dumplings (鍋貼) or shengjian bao (生煎包) are advertised but the end result is kind of a heartier, doughy version of what I tend to prefer. The other hot foods vary from fried noodles to fried chicken, congee and hot and sour soups, etc. The taste is enough to where it might not win over everyone, but the price tag most certainly will.

Mash a Chinese spot that serves, pick 3 items over rice/ noodles, with a hole in the wall dumpling/ street food place, & Broadway Snacks is what you'll get. Slightly off Broadway, right near Kung Fu Tea is this inconspicuous little shop. If you're seeking a hearty meal/ snack, that won't leave you broke, this is where ya wanna try.

Omg. I work at a dental clinic near this place. My coworker and dentist always buy food from here. It's so good. The price is cheap but the food is so high quality. I love it so much.

This place is a classic example of why you should never judge a book by it's cover. Does it look grimy from the outside? Is it no frills inside? Yes...and yes. But the value you get for your money here is so worth it! By far, one of the cheapest places to get a good size meal. For only $5 you get rice or noodles, with a choice of 3 entrees and soup! Is it greasy food...hell yea! But you don't come here looking for gourmet Chinese cuisine. This is stick to your ribs, hangry type of food. Plus, they have fresh steamed pork buns (4 for $1.50). You could spend $10 here and feed a family of 4!!! Plus, the ladies behind the counter were super friendly to us. This will definitely be a go to spot when I'm hungry and low on cash. P.S. it's cash only.

The only place around here that offers bamg for your buck; besides the bakery a few doors down. Where else can you get a quite filling meal of three dishes, 1 soup and a base (white rice always) for only $5? I hope they'll stay around for a long time to come!
